Our program believes in growing our trainees and faculty to be the very best they can be in a supportive environment. We have worked collaboratively with our residents and faculty to better shape that goal into a vision.  Thus, we have defined our program’s guiding mission, pillars, and foundations as follows:

The mission of the UH-CMC/CWRU EM Residency is to innovate EM training by enabling learners to pursue lifelong fulfillment in service to patients through cultivation of a growth-oriented mindset & empowerment through intentional leadership

To accomplish our mission, we have organized our training around three pillars that we believe are key to identities of those that practice emergency medicine, including: the expert diagnostician, the master resuscitationist, and the skilled advocate.

In order to foster these core identities, we aim to leverage the unique foundations of our program including:

  • Community – through mindful collaboration, reinforcing resiliency, and fostering diversity.

  • Educational Innovation – through enhancing feedback via meaningful metrics, developing master adaptable learners, and individualizing educational pathways.

  • Pursuit of Clinical Excellence – through a faculty philosophy of coaching to bring the best out of each trainee.

We have worked hard to weave these guiding principles throughout our training program to shape our department and the graduates of our program to be the very best that they can be.  We pride ourselves on being a program on the rise that will never be satisfied with the status quo, hence our favorite hashtag…#CLErising!
